Due to its expert nature, ICRI has been historically aninvitation-only event. However, this year, we decided right from the start: „Let‘smake it open.“ This ambition has manifested itself in the form of the Citizen programme. This way, we want to show the wider public how science happens and that it‘s happening all around them, often influencing their everyday lives. Thanks to the amazing work of our partners – Brno Observatory and Planetarium, VIDA! science centrum and Science Party – and the ICRI 2022 delegates who have accepted this challenge, we can introduce you the Citizen programme!
VIDA! After Dark: Light It Up

Do you want to have a glowing drink, sneak through the laser maze, and meet scientists from a top research centre? You can fit all of these cool activities in a single October night if you come to VIDA! science center for another After Dark event called „Light It Up!“ We will enlighten you on everything that is unclear and make your eyes sparkle with surprise! You can visit our Light Laboratory, learn about luminescence in various forms, make your own pocket laser and take the unique opportunity to meet Allen Weeks and Andrew Harrison, the scientists from the ELI Beamlines research center – the place with the most intense beamline systems worldwide. Enjoy the laser maze brought by the Amazing Theatre of Physics.

Science Party Brno is a bunch of science enthusiasts guided by the motto „Serious Topic + Fun = Serious Fun“. Festivals. Meetings. Parties. Lectures. That‘s what they do. And that‘s what they will do during the ICRI 2022 days. So come and join this unique Science Afternoon Party in the cosy cocktail bar 4pokoje in the Brno city centre and have a chat in the informal setting about the top-class science, maybe over a glass of drink of your choice. Among those joining us will be the CERN delegate Vojtěch Pleskot, the Egyptian physicist Gihan Kamel of synchrotron SESAME (which is basically a middle-eastern CERN) and the Australian ecologist, biologist and mathematician Hugh Possingham, aka the man with the plan how to save the Great Barrier Reef (and the planet Earth in general along the way).
