icri 2022 venues
The main ICRI 2022 programme will take place at a newly renovated Hotel Passage within walking distance of the city centre. For the social programme, we have chosen the historical building of Besední dům, the home of Brno Philharmonic, located just ten minutes of walking away.
Besední dům
Brno, Husova 20

The neo-renaissance building opened in 1873 as a social and cultural centre. Many Czech societies were resident here, the most famous of which included the Czech Readers' Circle and the Brno Beseda. The choirmaster of the Beseda in the 1870s and 1880s was also Leoš Janáček, who appeared at the society concerts as a pianist though principally as a conductor of large concert productions. Many of Janáček's works had their premiere in the Besední dům. Today the Besední dům is the home of the Brno Philharmonic.

Architecture
Brno boasts many famous architectural jewels. Whether it´s two Art Nouveau villas which are among the top works of their kind in the world (Jurkovič House and the Löw-Beet Villa) or several already legendary functionalist buildings: the Stiassni Villa, the Avion Hotel, the restored Zeman Café, and, of course, the Tugendhat Villa, which was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 2001. Apart from the four villas, Brno is well known for its take on early 20th-century functionalism and has one of the most impressive collections of buildings in that style.
